Kids watch an average of 3 hours of television per day. To ensure they are exposed to a certain amount of "good" TV, Congress passed the Children's Television Act (CTA) requiring network broadcast TV stations to increase the amount of E/I (educational and informational) programming they offer. Network stations must air at least 3 hours of core educational programming per week.
All of the AGKidZone television shows are aired on the weekend Kewlopolis programming block on CBS, which is an entirely E/I compliant time slot. Parents can be sure that if kids are tuned in during this time, they'll be watching kid-friendly, educational, and/or informational programming. CBS must also file quarterly reports with the FCC regarding this programming, and make them available to the public.
They must also provide consumers with advance information about these programs, and identify them with an "E/I" icon during airtime. The act also limits the number and length of commercials and commercial content to which children are subjected.
At AGKidZone.com, we've taken E/I one step further to help ensure your kids understand what they see. Our Teaching Moments section offers parents and guardians topics and exercises that can be used to teach kids about the E/I messaging found in each of our programs.
The FCC also limits placement of online advertising within websites targeted to kids. AGKidZone.com makes it a priority to ensure these guidelines are met. For more information on E/I programming and FCC guidelines, please visit the FCC Website.
